Mickey Haller doesn't work out of an office. He works out of the back of a Lincoln, cruising through Los Angeles between courthouses, clients, and chaos — and somehow that's exactly why The Lincoln Lawyer has turned into one of Netflix's steadiest legal dramas. Based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novels, the series has spent four seasons proving that courtroom drama doesn't need gimmicks when the cases, and the people trying them, are this good.

And just before it landed, Netflix locked in a Season 5 renewal, confirming the show isn't slowing down anytime soon. Production on the fifth season was expected to begin around March 2026 in Los Angeles, with showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez already teasing what comes next for Mickey and his team.
"We're so excited to share the upcoming fourth season with the audience on February 5th, and even more excited to share what's next." — Ted Humphrey & Dailyn Rodriguez, Co-Showrunners
Season 1
He's Back — And So Is The Lincoln
Premiered May 13, 2022The Lincoln Lawyer premiered on Netflix on May 13, 2022, dropping all 10 episodes at once and introducing viewers to Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), a hotshot LA defense attorney clawing his way back after a surfing accident sidelined his career and left him leaning on painkillers. Based on Connelly's original novel of the same name, the season picks up with Mickey inheriting a law practice — Lincoln Town Car included — after a fellow attorney is murdered, handing him a high-profile case that could either resurrect his career or bury it for good.
That case centers on Trevor Elliott (Christopher Gorham), a wealthy video game executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. As Mickey digs in, the season juggles courtroom fireworks with a quieter, character-driven story about a man rebuilding trust with everyone around him — his ex-wife and co-parent Maggie McPherson (Neve Campbell), his other ex-wife and closest ally Lorna Crane (Becki Newton), his investigator Cisco (Angus Sampson), and Izzy Letts (Jazz Raycole), the recovering addict he takes a chance on as his driver. Season 1 also threads in a second, quieter case — Jesus Menendez, a former client Mickey believes he wrongly helped put away — which becomes the emotional backbone of his redemption arc.
By the finale, Mickey's won his case, gotten Menendez released, and seemingly found some peace. But the season closes on an unsettling note: a mysterious figure with a tattooed arm watching Mickey from a distance, hinting that closing one case just opened the door to a far more dangerous one.
Season 2
No Justice Without Drive
Part 1: July 6, 2023 • Part 2: August 3, 2023Season 2 rolled out in two parts — July 6, 2023 and August 3, 2023 — for a combined 10 episodes, adapting Connelly's novel The Brass Verdict. This time, Mickey finds himself thrust into a murder trial he never asked for, inheriting the caseload of a friend and fellow attorney who's killed under mysterious circumstances. The marquee case follows Lisa Trammell (Lana Parrilla), a fiery restaurateur and community activist accused of murdering a real estate developer she'd been publicly feuding with.
Complicating matters considerably: Mickey and Lisa become romantically involved before the case even lands on his desk, blurring every professional line he's usually careful to protect. The season leans harder into Mickey's personal chaos alongside the courtroom drama — his relationship with daughter Hayley (Krista Warner) grows more strained, his history with addiction resurfaces, and his dynamic with Maggie shifts as she finds herself circling the same case from the DA's side.
Season 2 By The Numbers
- Reached the Netflix Global Top 10 in 81 countries
- Racked up roughly 40 million cumulative views within weeks of release
- First season to use a split, two-part release format
Mickey ultimately gets Lisa acquitted, but Season 2 makes a point of not handing him a clean win. Her checkered past catches up with her right as their relationship might have had a real shot, leaving Mickey once again choosing his career over his personal life — a quieter gut-punch of an ending that sets up a Mickey who's professionally on top but personally adrift heading into Season 3.
Season 3
The Gods of Guilt
Premiered October 17, 2024Season 3 arrived October 17, 2024, with all 10 episodes releasing together, adapting The Gods of Guilt — widely considered one of Connelly's strongest entries in the series. The season opens in the aftermath of Gloria "Glory Days" Dayton's death, a former client and key witness from Season 1 whose murder pulls Mickey into representing the man accused of killing her: her own pimp.
"It's the most emotional season — heavy emotion — because of how we found him, and a lot of things happen which I cannot say, but they're very emotional for me." — Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, on shooting the season's arc
What makes this season hit differently is the personal weight behind the case. Mickey feels responsible for Glory's death, having pulled her back into a dangerous world by asking for her testimony years earlier, and that guilt drives every decision he makes defending a client he's not even sure he trusts. Returning cast members Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole are joined by new additions including Lana Parrilla returning in a different capacity, along with newcomers Merrin Dungey, John Pirruccello, and Philip Anthony-Rodriguez rounding out the season's expanding cast of cops, prosecutors, and suspects.
Season 3 Cliffhanger
- Mickey is arrested after police find former client Sam Scales' body in his Lincoln's trunk
- After three seasons defending others, the show flips its entire premise heading into Season 4
Season 4
The Law of Innocence
Premiered February 5, 2026Season 4 premiered February 5, 2026, with all 10 episodes dropping at once, adapting Connelly's sixth novel, The Law of Innocence. Picking up exactly where Season 3 left off, Mickey is charged with the murder of Sam Scales and, unable to post a $5 million bail, chooses to represent himself from behind bars — arguably the biggest professional and personal risk he's ever taken.
With Mickey sidelined, the show shifts weight onto the team that's carried him through three seasons: Lorna and Cisco scramble to keep the firm functioning without its lead attorney, Izzy pulls double duty, and Maggie steps in more fully than ever as both an ex-wife and a legal ally, reflected in Neve Campbell's move to full-time series regular this season. The season also brings in a wave of new talent — Cobie Smulders, Sasha Alexander, and Constance Zimmer join the cast — alongside returning stalwarts like Elliott Gould as David "Legal" Siegel.
Season 4 closes out with confirmation that's more reassuring than most Lincoln Lawyer cliffhangers: the show has already been renewed for Season 5. Whatever happens to Mickey by the finale, the Lincoln isn't parked for good.
